Angels… our guardians, our consciences, they are depicted in many forms and deeds. Our society longs to believe in these benevolent celestial beings, yet with all the horrific acts that occur in our world, we often question where are our angels. How could these things happen if we have guardians watching over us? Deyzel, through thoughtful insight, leads us through his vision of an angel-in-training class. As the angel-teacher, he instructs the new angels by moving through history and all-too-true individual, human episodes trying to illustrate, for his class, human nature. Clearly shown to these new angels is how we humans so often overlook and misuse our “gift” of free will. Our choices often tie the hands of our heavenly guardians, allowing those fallen spirits, who rejected their spiritual faith and everlasting life with God, to slip in, nibble away at our faith, and influence our choices. How often do we allow those dark, sly hands to twist our choices rather than act on what we know is “right”? Are our angels there for us, watching over us? Absolutely, but due to our free will, we tie their hands until through our choice, we throw off the darkness and choose to act upon the light.
